Life is too short to f*ck up and too long not to.

I began this ‘newsletter’ to continue following the voices I had found on Twitter and to once again be part of that community. In 1973, at a NYC Town Hall talk, the Indian philosopher, Jiddu Krishnamurti, said one of the two most important sentences I’ve ever heard. “Corruption begins in lack of relationship.” Simple words, but profound and the lifeblood of any civil society.

The other sentence was in response to a question I asked my best friend, Howard “Stretch” Johnson, a former Cotton Club dancer, Communist Party leader and pioneer in the Black Studies movement. Can you define racism for me in one sentence? Without a blink, he said, “Racism is the economic persecution of one people by another.”

These two questions define me in a way little else does. But I do love humour, I write literary fiction, and an occasional essay for a magazine. I’ll share some of that as I trundle down this road. I’m hoping I’ll find others who will travel with me from time to time as I trek on.
